A short but powerful method for guiding someone who has recently died to the Pure Land of a Buddha.
This practice of transference of consciousness, known in Tibetan as ‘powa’, is performed on behalf of someone who has recently died. It is traditionally done within forty-nine days of a death. By engaging in this practice with faith, compassion and strong concentration we can enable the deceased person to make a special connection with the holy beings, and help them towards rebirth in a Buddha’s Pure Land, or at least a fortunate rebirth.
