Prayers

Prayers are special methods for generating positive states of mind and can be used as a basis for successful meditation on any of the stages of the path to enlightenment. Tharpa Publications provides a wide range of Buddhist prayers in printed, ebook and audio format.

Buddhist prayers are often referred to as 'sadhanas', which means 'ritual prayers for spiritual attainments'. A sadhana is practised by reciting the verses and deeply contemplating their meaning. Through regular practise a sadhana acts as a method for attaining realizations that enable us to progress along our spiritual path.

This product is part of the Jewels of Dharma series by Tharpa Publications – a set of small folded cards intended to aid with the memorization of particular Kadampa Buddhist texts. They are all excerpts from the books and oral teachings of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

    Atisha's Advice

Venerable Atisha (982-1054) is the founder of Kadampa Buddhism. His advice encapsulates the way of life of the early Kadampa practitioners, whose example of purity and sincerity all modern Kadampa Buddhists should try to emulate. This timeless wisdom is as profoundly beneficial and applicable now, as it was when it was originally composed.
