Je Tsongkhapa 2 (with Sons and Protectors)
The great Tibetan Buddhist Master (AD 1357-1419), an emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri, who spread a very pure Buddhadharma showing how to combine the practices of Sutra and Tantra, and how to practise pure Dharma during degenerate times. He was emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri, as indicated by his holding the Wisdom Sword and scripture of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra. His tradition later became known as the new Kadampa, Gelug, or Ganden Tradition. The painting depicts Je Tsongkhapa and his two spiritual sons – Gyaltsabje on his right and Khedrupje on his left – on a mass of clouds emanating from the heart of Buddha Maitreya in Tushita Pure Land. Below in the centre is the Dharma Protector Kalarupa and to his right is the Dharma Protector Dorje Protector.
